Adobe Bridge CS 5.5 (CS5.1 (4.1.0.5.4)) vs. Adobe Lightroom 3.4.1 vs. Aperture vs. Picasa..
referring to Final Cut Pro and Premiere

Having tried all 4 of them at the moment my favorite is Adobe Bridge.
Here is why:

Bridge works like a file browser. I dont have to import things into a catalog. Meanwhile Lightroom also allows browsing disks. But in Bridge for example, you can easily select if you see the content of a folders subfiolders or not. I work on 3 computers, and use Synchronize Pro to sync certain folders. This way, when i work, i can just sync and if i move to another workstation, ill have the same data. This is harder to maintain once you start with database system (like Lightroom and Aperture) that either become very big or refer to a predefined player where the files are. Picasa seems very similar to the Bridge, but the Bridge gives me a Photoshop compatible Camera Raw Editor and overall feels more professional. But they both have “Export” functions, which I heard were just recently added to “Bridge”.

Working with Movies, Bridge is also meant to be a content Browser for Premiere Pro. I made my first experiences with Premiere Pro and I have to say it seems very similar to Final Cut Pro (the non X version) and more stable. For example, it lets me edit my Canon 5d footage immediately without conversion. It also integrates cool with Photoshop (i can easily send and treat Photos both ways) and Bridge (which acts as a browsing utility). I also learnt that i can edit films in Photoshop while Lightroom can’t even play them. This way, being interested in both, photography and movies, Bridge is better for me than Lightroom.

It seems within human beings to push things from one extreme to the other. Ever since the fail of communism hardly anyone in the “west” has been reasonable about economic politics anymore. All kinds of carefulness and well explained theories have just been thrown overboard – cause communism failed anyway. Back in the 80s many scientists discussed whats needed for a common currency. And that would have been: a common government, a common language and a manageable size….

We cant control too many things….same as we can’t do two fulltime jobs at the same time. We need to strip down at least certain tasks to manageable sizes again rather than believing being modern means to be able to manage more than ever before…the world…the whole space.

Our MC Chevy belongs to them and he told me they’ve split up, while both halfs currently tour the world with the new materials and he seemed to feel a bit weird about it too….Here is a link to a soundcloud file (a snip from the intro) i just found that some of them posted. Obviously it is Track 15 or 16 of their CD “Die in the Process” but I’m not sure when it’s available. UPDATE: N.o.h.a. has split up into two different N.O.H.A s and I don’t know what will happen now.

During the past months I have been working on track and videos as well. I am using a Canon 5D Mk2. I started making photos with a Nikon EM in the 80s, now the fire has gotten me again as I really like the way it is possible to show things – now also as movies in a cinematic quality! The human eye doesn’t see everything sharp, so having pics that focus on certain points while leaving others unsharp are just more natural than standard pocket-cam-everything-sharp pics. And in most cases when I make a tune, I do have something in mind before I do it, a certain vibe, a melody…and last but not least…pictures. So I really like to do videos for my tracks to better express what I want it to feel like…although of course sometimes the pictures come afterwards and I’m just getting inspired by things. The first videos are now on my youtube channel, which is a combined Basswerk/ Green Man channel for now! Here is the channel:
