Basswerk is a Drum & BassLabel & Club Project based on the Junglegrowers-Project founded in 1994 by Green Man and Cheetah. Ever since then, Basswerk became one of the leading German Drum & Bass Labels. and was voted Label of the Year in 2003 and 2004 by the biggest german D&B Community Future-Music.net. Our last Labelcompilation is called Basswerk Sessions Vol. 2 was released (unmixed 2-CD with 23 tracks)

Current artists, discovered and continued to be released on Basswerk, are: The Green Man, Giana Brotherz, Nphect & Dizplay, Cytech, Misanthrop, Taxidriver. Basswerk works very closely together with VJ "Sehvermögen", who's on stage with the rest of the crew since 1999 every 2nd saturday of the month at Basswerk Sessions @ Gebäude9, Köln. (www.sehvermoegen.de, www.gebaeude9.de, www.g9fans.de). He also made the video for Green man's Infinity that even hit the MTV Top 20 and remained 3 weeks on Top of the German Club Charts (DCC).

Besides Drum & Bass, we don't like to be categorized further. To us, Drum & Bass can be Punk, Ragga, Jazz, Soul, Wave, Dub and Scienec Fiction. Liquid Funk is cool, but it's boring for the whole night.

In 2004, Green Man's "Easy" was voted German D&B Track Of The Year and played by many Radio Stations, while the Flip "Hear Dis" was a heavy DJ-Tool, played by many Turntablerockers such as Zero Tolerance.. We've also had a big success in 2002 when the first Giana Brotherz 12'' ever hit the stores. They were the first to bring a heavy metal riff into a D&B track. All Remixes can be found soon in the Basswerk Files Section. Also, the first Basswerk Compilation in1998 was a big success and CD of the Month in "De-Bug". Dizplay's Syndicate on BW20 (and BW-CD 02) is one of Dieselboy's favorites.

In 2001, The Green Man (in short: TGM) released ihis first Album "You Decide" on Combination-Records, which became a worldwide success. Als the Infinity Remix as well as Feb21st were released there. If you like to send us demos for releases or just to play write to the address below (we play a lot of CDs - this way your tunes may make it quite fast to the party crowd as happend in the case of Giana Brotherz). Please understand that we are basically doing all this as 1-2 main persons although our website may look as if we are a big company, its all still underground. So we definitely listen to all demos and play some of them but in some cases may not be able to give the desired feedback - make things easier and write name, titles and email on the cd you send. We also recommend you use our producer-forum, where we regularily drop in and check tunes. There you'll also get feedback from other music lovers.
